In chapters 10-12, we find out a little more about our charecters. We learned that Atticus is about 50, almost blind in one eye, and has a great shot with a gun. We learned that Jem is football crazy (which is why he is my favorite charecter as of now). We also can tell that Jem is growing up. He is experincing changes (puberty maybe?). Jem also gets in trouble after he gets caught snipping all Ms. Dubose’s roses. But Ms. Dubose’s a jerk and i would have have done the same thing. He has to read to her for a whole month but he believe she made it longer than she said. But then our ‘heroes’ find out that Ms. Dubose died of her sickness and oldness. This is where it ended. But Jem did recieve a candy box out of it so its not a total loss. ~~~~~mattysmalls      ~kansas       ~steve

Ch 5-9 was very intresting.  Jem almost got shot by Mr. Nathan Radely because he deciede to mess around the Radelys house. That was a heart racer chapter since Dill, Scout, and Jem were pokeing around the house tryin to see if they could see Boo, Arthur Radley and get him to come out and play. There was another heart racer when Miss Maudie house cought fire and it started to spread to Scouts house and to their other neighbor  house, Miss Stephanie Crafords. That scene was horriable since Miss Maudie lost her house and almost everything she owned but it was shocking that she ws happy about  it. The reason was because she always wanted to have a bigger garden and a house that she could share with roommates. The part I liked most of all was when Scout was covered with the blanket and when Jems pants were sewed up. Boo is the one who gave it to her and the one who sewed up Jems pants, at that moment was when we found out that hes not so bad and that we shouldn’t listen to what the others say about him.

I think that these few chapters in the middle had been much to bring us in to the book. I think that these chapters as to compare it to the first four had been more interesting.  It had really pulled me in when Jem and Dill had come up with the plan to go and see Boo Radley.  It had been really funny when they had ran away when they heard Mr. Radley come and ran away under the gate and Jem had lost his pants. I thought it had been very lucky for Jem that he lied and said he was playing strip poker.  Although, it is kind of scary to think that Jem had almost got shot by Mr. Radley when they were running away.  Also, it makes me very curious to know who had put all the stuff in the knothole because they had to have seen scout and Jem because they had found dolls in there that had looked just like them and why had Mr. Radley closed the knothole with cement even though the tree was healthy when scout had asked another person it the tree had been dying. I also feel bad that Mr. Radley’s wife had died but it was kind of mean when no one had missed her.
