Quote 17 – 20

“But this is the truth that applies to the human race and to no particular race of men. There is not a person in this courtroom who has never told a lie, who has never done an immoral thing, and there is no man who has never looked upon a woman without desire.’”

I think what Atticus says is true and is a very important quote.  That no matter what a person is or no matter what race they are they have not done something wrong.  This is an important because just because Tom Robinson is a colored person it does not mean that he is entirely bad. Because everyone is different and that you should not believe how a person is unless you know that person, just like the saying don’t judge a book by its cover.  Even when it says that Tom Robinson had been accused to rape Mayella Ewell it seemed more that she had been the one lying because she wanted to get rid of her guilt and cover up for her father and had been believed more than Tom because it shows that most favor her because she is white, and on the other had while Glimer had shown his full scorn towards Tom by all the remarks.
